All my favorites from the month of June!
Happy Monday friends, and happy end of June! We’re ending the month off with a recap of all of my favorites from June. What a fabulous month it has been!!!!
My Greek Party
I kicked off the month of June by hosting my monthly themed dinner party, which was a Greek-inspired party with traditional Mediterranean food. I watched Mamma Mia for the first time in May and it’s safe to say a lot of the decor and vibes were inspired by the movie- I am OBSESSED. I served up food like homemade pita crackers, baked feta, stuffed bell peppers + tomatoes, keftedes, briam, and a lemon olive oil trifle + SO MUCH MORE! The tablescape was inspired by all of the blues and whites in Santorini with pops of gold.
You can find all the links for the recipes I used on this post.
Gardening
Earlier in June, I was inspired by all of the farmer’s markets and seasonal produce to plant some things at home! I decided to plant a cherry tomato plant, fresh herbs, lavender, and a bell pepper plant- and now my favorite part of my morning routine is watering my plants in the sun <3 Everything is looking super happy right now; I’m aiming to plant some bigger crops in the ground next season! I have yet to use tomatoes or bell peppers, but I’ve harvested lots of basil, mint, and rosemary and those herbs hit different when you grow them yourself!! Herbs are super low maintenance so if you have ever wanted to get into gardening, it’s a great place to start and super rewarding.
Matcha Latte’s (with fun homemade syrup combos)
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that in the month of June I made a bunch of different matcha latte’s in an attempt to make myself love matcha (as an iced coffee girlie). I work as a barista but up until I made it at home, I never tried matcha. I made some super fun flavors, like strawberry rhubarb and mango coconut. While it hasn’t replaced my morning coffee… it is a delicious alternative on mornings when I don’t feel like I need as much caffeine/want a more subtle energy boost.
Matcha contains antioxidants and naturally occurring L-theanine, which is an amino acid that promotes relaxation and focus without drowsiness. I definitely recommend trying out the matcha recipes I have posted if you’re new to matcha or want to try it out- all of the syrups were so delicious! I think my favorite was the blueberry lavender honey. Pictured below is a strawberry rhubarb matcha latte with pistachio milk… SO GOOD!
I use Cymbiotika’s ceremonial grade matcha. It is a bit pricey, but I find it isn’t grassy like lower quality matcha’s can be.
Cowboy Caviar
This is absolutely my new go-to appetizer for summertime. It’s fresh, flavorful, packed with nutrients, and perfect for a grab and go snack. Pair it with Siete tortilla chips and I promise it will be devoured by the end of any gathering.. full recipe is linked here! 10/10 recommend trying this one out, I’ll be making it for the Fourth of July and you should too ;)
Djerf Avenue’s Go Slow Collection
This one is pretty niche and a bit random, but I am literally LIVING in these pajamas every morning. They are the softest pajama’s ever and not to mention the adorable fruit prints. OBSESSED!!! So worth the money- get a pair and I promise you’ll wear them 24/7.
FIGS!!!!
I’m one of those people that gets SO excited whenever there’s a new type of produce stocked at farmer’s markets or in stores. When I saw the first figs of the season, my jaw dropped and I immediately grabbed them hahah. I LOVE a good fig whenever I’m making a sweet and savory dish or just want a burst of fruity flavor. They pair incredibly with other summer produce like tomatoes, peaches, and fresh herbs. I made a burrata and jammy fig salad recently that was wiped out by my family by the end of the evening, it was SO GOOD. Definitely give this one a try!
Fancy Caprese Salad’s
If you want a quick and easy appetizer that is literally always going to taste amazing, look no further than a caprese salad. I love putting little spins on them, like adding peaches, figs, prosciutto, honey, etc. to amp it up AND always make it new and exciting. Here’s a basic recipe:
-sliced heirloom or beefsteak tomatoes
-mozzarella
-basil leaves
-balsamic vinegar
-olive oil
-flaky sea salt
Et Voila!
Mocktails
As a girlie who loves a fun and fancy drink to sip on but doesn’t drink alcohol, I’ve been LOVING making poolside mocktails! They’re so refreshing- I usually use coconut water or sparkling mineral water as the base to get lots of electrolytes on these hot summer days. Here are my current favorite mocktails:
